IJK interface diagrams.

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

Thanks!
I assume the ones in the two first lists are currently the ones you get if you download on oric.org?

The first list contains the games that we find on Oric.org, GhostGobbler is the only game that I have modified, it is downloadable here:https://forum.defence-force.org/downloa ... hp?id=2430.

Hello everyone.
There is a simple way to use a maximum of games with the joystick, on the picture below, the diodes are in the black case, the interface works in IJK mode, if you plug the IDC connector upside down, you work in PASE mode.

Nifty :)

Do you have the update schematics somewhere?

I guess it would be quite difficult to make the same thing with a switch on the connector instead of having to turn it around, would require something like what they had in the old radios and tv with a dozen of pins moving all at the same time :D

Exactly, these old switches are no longer found and they are bulky. The white connector with the ugly calipers can be replaced with a commercially available male black joystick cord.

What about soldering TWO cables, one for the IJK joystick, one for the PASE joystick, depending of the game you use one or the other, and you don't have to plug/unplug the connector (which could cause long term problems with the solders on the motherboard I guess)

I will experiment with an interface with a slightly larger shell, there will be a pcb with 4 more transistors, there will be 2 IJK outputs and 1 DB9 PASE output. there will be no need to plug it upside down.

AN other way to connect the joysticks:
4 outputs, PASE x2 and IJK x2.
No upside down connecting.
IDC connector soldered on the edge of the PCB.

It seems there soon will be a nice new hardware for our ORICs...

Hello,
I tried to wire a SNES joystick bought at AliExpress with two DB9 cords, the result is as following:
The left directions keys send signals to the left ijk joystick socket.
The right knobs A B X Y send signals to the right ijk joystick socket at the "same place" of the direction keys.
The right edge knob send fire signal to the left ijk joystick socket and conversely.
START and SELECT send sinultaneousely opposite directions signals (up down and left right) with 4 diodes added at the SNES joystick. These "impossible' combinations could be used at the beginning of the game.

All this works with the old IJK interface.

Cool :)

I wonder how difficult it would be to patch Axayacatl to support that.

Basically right now the game controls should be changed so instead of "move in this direction using WADX until I press the S key", it should be "move in this direction as long as I press this directional arrow", and I the "target in this direction using IJLM and then shoot/open/close/take using KOFP" would have to be modified to be contextual depending of what is in front of you.
