Hello from Bristol

In this forum you can write about anything that does not fit in other forums.
This includes generic Oric talkings and things that are totaly unrelated but want to share with people here :)

Hello from Bristol

Post by Kon »

Hello everyone :D

I'm Kon and I just picked up an Oric Atmos.

I grew up in the 80s as a Sinclair Spectrum kid, but I was always curious about other systems. I've finally got my hands on an Oric after all these years!

I'm enjoying reading the posts in the forum and think that I will learn a lot from you all

Here's my setup:

Hello

Thank you all for your greetings!

I have ordered an Erebus -- hopefully should have it next week!

I am keen to try tapes! I have a cassette recorder, but no software on cassette... yet...

Tonight I tried saving a simple BASIC programme to cassette. I have a 7 pin connector to MIC, EAR, REM cables, but wasn't able to save or re-load.

Indeed @Kon, welcome - and yes, you will find a lot of the greatest Oric developers here on defence-force .. its great to see so many people taking a new interest in Oric again - wouldn't be the same scene if it weren't for the efforts of folks like Chema and Dbug and co., though ..

Hey Kon. You may be interested to know that a lot of the original work on Oricutron was done on a train from Weston-super-Mare to Bath, so basically in your neck of the woods :D

It'd be interesting to know what proportion of Oricutron's functionality can be attributed to train delays...

I think it was two or three years ago now, but I took my non-British wife to Bristol during a tour of my homeland. We just did the obvious things — the suspension bridge, lunch at the harbour, etc — but I think she liked it. It was where a surprisingly high proportion of my sixth form friends ended up, between Bristol University and the University of WOE, so luckily I already knew where all the good pubs are, albeit that everybody looked younger than I remembered.
