Fabrice came up with that idea to make it easier to play on real machines. You only had to create an Oric disc for the interpreter. To play a game you just copied your game file to a FAT formatted floppy, which could be done with any PC at that time.
You boot with the pinforic disc, the interpreter loads in memory and only the FAT disc is used thereafter.

Well, the updated version made for Tristam Island by Fabrice and Chema was committed on the SVN repository:

I did not dare try to do anything with it, but at least it's archived there as the very latest version, which also required a change to the OSDK to allow the use of a custom version of the lib folder (can check the commits 1542 and 1543 fot the details)
