OricSpin : The FrontEnd

Post by soft-bug »

Hi,

OricSpin is several games put into the HyperSpin FrontEnd. The interest is to have a nice way to select and launch games from an interface.

here the precious theme used :

The full package can be directly get here : http://www.vassalfactory.org/DD/OricSpin.zip

The goal was not to make a fullset ... but a simple tribute to game makers !

Just unzip and put in a directory. Launch HyperSpin.exe to start playing !!!

Enter : Launch a selected game
Del : to escape from the emulator
Esc : to quit

Regards

Thank you very much for this very convenient and useful tool. :D

I discovered Retro computing and Oric in november 2019 .. and I've never taken the time to explore games.
This tool will for sure help me to discover all this marvels.

If i count well, there are 113 games available. How was made the selection :?:

It's nice, but it has the same major issue that has been annoying me with Oric Base and all these other archive: The games don't have documentation.

Just one (totally random) example: Space 1999 is supposed to come with maps of the base and some manuals about how the game work.

Not providing the manuals with the game, is detrimental to the play experience, and also not very nice for the authors who spent some time working on something.

I see that in OricSpin\Manuels there a a few manuals, including the one from Oricium, but they are not accessible from the UI, which kind of defeats the purpose.

So, my two cents:
- Make sure that every single game that had manuals provided, should have the manuals packaged with the game
- The manuals should be accessible from the UI
- Make sure the names are properly written (Oricium is from "Defence" not "Defense") or not written at all

Additionally, maybe you should poke the Oricutron authors so they can provide you with a FrontEnd friendly version of Oricutrion which:
- Does not show the information bar at the bottom
- Would use a "windows fullscreen" mode that does not cause havok on people with multiple screens
- Would be easier to quit that pressing F1 -> Escape

Hello, happy to see you're back on Oric.
I'm not an hyperspin fan, but the interface is quite beautiful
