Tap WAV files
Hi all
Last year I converted virtually all of the tap images from Good Oric to Wav. However, I used -14 as the intention was to use the Wav files with an Ardiotape device I purchased. Sadly the Ardiotape device I purchased via Etsy, only to discover an old school friend was producing them, is not much good.
I have had limited success using an Ipod and an Android phone loading them on a 1 and Atmos. Some of them don't load at all, some work on the 1 and not the Atmos and vice versa.
As the project to convert them to Wav was quite hard work over a period of time, and I don't want to repeat it, does anybody have any idea how I might have better results loading them in. If someone can tell me where, I am happy to make the entire collection available.

Re: Tap WAV files
Check TapOric first as fastest and easiest option.
This will confirm everything in your Oric works. If so then there are lot nice options to go.

Re: Tap WAV files
OK
Using TapOric and the WAV files I converted, I got the following results from a random sample, using the default settings on a Samsung J5 phone, volume set at around 90% on an Atmos.
Mr Wimpy - works fine
Hunchback - works fine
Projectiles - failed, out of memory error
Krazy Ape - as above
PSS Invaders - title screen and game failed to start
Championship Boxing - got the title screen but game failed to start
Oric Flight - failed, game wouldn't start
Green X Toad - works fine
Oric Bandit - works fine
Nuclear Invaders - works fine
Zorgons - works fine
Trick Shot - works fine
Save the Sausages - works fine
Styx - works fine
League Champions - failed, got loading screen but nothing further and seemed to stop
Sorvivor - works fine
So, whilst I cannot expect everything to work on the native hardware, the success rate is overall good and I must be satisfied with that.

Re: Tap WAV files
In first post you wrote that you use both Oric-1 and Atmos - are there any success related differences comparing them?
Next to try (if not already) use TAP files "as is" with TapOric and give feedback what happens.

Re: Tap WAV files
Yes will dust off the Oric 1 and try the games that have failed on the Atmos.
It may be the case the more basic games work better on the 1 but we'll see.
I will let you know how I go on.

Re: Tap WAV files
The first generation of Oric games is very hit and miss, the simplest run on both machines but the ones which were a tiny bit advanced would easily use system functions or areas that are not at the same location on the Atmos.
Then you get all these games that were developed on Atmos and did not care about the Oric 1 (I'm guilty of that), and all the ones who were made to be compatible, or who had compatible versions released later on.

Folks
All being well, work permitting, I'll be continuing my trial of loading a sample in to the Atmos and 1 tomorrow. I've just downloaded pretty much from the "missing section" (awesome work Dave by the way) and will try some of them
I've just invested in a new cassette lead from the seller on Ebay, name escapes me but they are based in Oldham. They sell some quite nice bits, and their Scart lead is an excellent piece of kit.

OK
Projectiles - failed on the Atmos with the new tape lead in tap and wav in Tap Oric.
Oric 1 - failed in tap mode in Tap Oric but works fine in wav -14 using Samsung Galaxy J5
