Re: Cumulus Issues

I was talking to someone who had some issues with 2600 RAM chips. There were some on a board I sold him and he said they were all a problem. I've had other Orics with 2600 that seem to work fine, so there is maybe different tolerances? Seem to recall someone recommending that the RAM should be used ...

Re: Cumulus Issues

So, at this point, who's still stuck with a non working and not solved Cumulus<->Oric situation. I know Peacer was still having issues, could any of you who is still stuck post a new message summarizing the issue, and indicating: - Type of Oric (Oric 1, Oric Atmos, Oric 1 converted to Atmos, Atmos ...

Re: Blue Oric 1

Despite from Tandata that could be a spinoff of Tangerine, this terminal have nothing in common with Orics. Even the keyboard that some seems to tell that it is similar to the Oric1, I really don't see the point. The key disposition is absolutly not the same, nor the color or the shape. It's from t...

Re: Blue Oric 1

Halifax merged with Bank of Scotland in 2001 which is well after Oric's time. But this is apparently Home and Office Banking, I think. My partner Ally remembers these from the eighties and says they were cutting edge for their time. You could do 'online banking' in the days before the internet was p...

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

Hopefully, the voltage between the UK and the mainland are the same (230-240V) But yes the socket is not the same, but coverter exists and they are cheap :) Must have been thinking of US voltage for some reason. Still, both types are available so it makes sense to just buy the right one to begin wi...

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

No, you have a different voltage requirement IIRC and a different mains socket, so I don't recommend it.

Boris posted a link to a similar EU power supply that will work in France.

Very cheap and works OK with the Cumulus.

Don't know where he got them but Twi had copies of both books printed out, so it looks like someone scanned them for him.

(Fabrice maybe???)

Re: Looking for Dsk2Tap (or similar) tool

Couldn't you do it by editing the disk with Nibble or BDDISK and creating a file in the (DIR)menu with the start and end address of the part of the disk you need? It might clash though.

Re: Cumulus Issues

Thanks! What's it for then??? I found my Atmos with most chips in sockets so thought I'd swap some memory chips. They were all 4164 to begin with. Put in two 2600 and Cumulus worked OK. Swapped a couple more for some 4864s and it wouldn't boot the disk. Swapped the 2600 for some 4264 and still no jo...

Re: Cumulus Issues

Yargh!
I've knocked the jumper off the little board that connects to the expansion port. Should it be over the two pins? I don't recall it being over them both.

(Got Cumulus to work with 2 Oric-1s.)
