Re: Oric Database

Yes, I agree with that. I think there's a problem with software not having an identifier so you can see whether it is Oric-1 or Atmos, (or other) by looking at it. The software on Oric.org gets copied and spread around with other archives renaming things. Filenames have got bigger with things like d...

Re: Oric Database

The original focus was on transfers of original tapes so there was not much interest in modified versions that appeared on disks, for example. I think I offered to copy some things years ago but it was rejected in favour of original tapes. I think the extra space that disks took up may have been a c...

Re: Oric cleaning :)

I think you'd have to leave it out in the sun for a while to get the red to discolour. I have one or two Atmos bottoms, so I'd just replace it, if it was that bad. I do have one Oric-1 that is quite discoloured. It was my first 48K one and came like that. I swapped the case for a nice one - but I do...

Re: Oric Database

Having a database is useful as you can sort the programs in different ways. Sometimes you want the programs listed by title. Other times you might want to see all the Loriciels titles together. Then you might want them listed by author. The problem with Oric.org is everything is lumped in together. ...

Re: Oric cleaning :)

I've not had too much trouble with the plastic on Atmoses getting discoloured. It's seems quite sturdy stuff. I have in the past washed the key tops. A little WD40 usually does a good job of removing stickers etc and can brighten up the surface. Oric-1s are a bit different and the case can become di...

Re: Is BD-DOS lost to time?

I'm not sure which version of BD DOS it is? I have documentation for DOS4 which includes BASIC v2. So I'd assume there has to be some overlay with the new Basic. I have an Oric with an expansion pack that houses a ROM chip with the Basic - I think that one is V3 BASIC. After the initial software by ...

Beat me to it. Here's the Google translate version. See, it does a pretty good job! Game Theme You are a representative in a company. So you travel to reach distant customers between 420 and 900 km Goal of the game. The computer tells you the mileage and gives you a car and a budget. According to th...

Re: Software houses

I did hear rumours of an Australian Oric User Group which wrote their own software etc, but I've never found anyone who could confirm its existence and say what software they had. I knew of Austrian Oric User Groups, but not Australian, would be interesting to know who they got the machines out the...

Re: Software houses

There were some releases in Norway, but I'm not sure how many were translated versions and how many were originals. AD Electronikk, Dart Software, Data Dynamikk. ON Software was released via OUM in the UK (I think all titles were by Arnt Erik Isaksen) There was a couple of titles in Germany Mobyx Sy...

Re: The IT Crowd's Atmos

So that's where it ended up. Why didn't the computer go back to the computer museum? Oh well it looks like it's in good hands. He just needs to get some proper software! I see the meme about the Oric-1 having a bad keyboard is spreading. It really isn't as bad as some make it out to be. The spacing ...

Re: Stephen Haigh

I actually rang him up approx 20 years ago. Dave D had a letter from him detailing what royalties he was wanting from software sales. He had moved house a couple of time and I had to keep getting a new number. He had just a child which was making a bit of noise as I tried to discuss the merits of Or...

Re: Booting a disk in Telestrat mode using Oricutron?

I don't think that is a proper configuration as the Basic ROM was not a cartridge option for the Telestrat. I think the Stratoric cartridge has the ROM on it(?) You should have one language cartridge and one utility prog - so not two language carts.

Re: Tendre Poulet - used AIC?

Psychiatric. There's also other examples like the loading screen to Loriciel's Tic Tac. OK, it's not the actual game itself. The intro screen to Psychiatric also have some interesting use of colours. Using alternate colour lines was known about but tended not to be used on the playing area. I can't ...

Re: Booting a disk in Telestrat mode using Oricutron?

Thanks. Isn't the Stratoric cartridge usually one in use? I can't remember the correct pairings of the ROMs. Even the Telestrat owners seem to struggle with that! I've got it working though and the Glaces prog is a hidden maze as Peacer was saying. You can't see the maze so have to figure out what r...

Re: Booting a disk in Telestrat mode using Oricutron?

Ah I managed to get the Telestrat workign using the Euphoric configatoric prog. I could then select the right ROMs as I think the wrong ones were in place.

I can't see any way to change the ROMs in Oricutron (Is there a way?)
