Re: 2 eurocents question about AY-8912 possibilities

Well, the problem with the nop method of synchronisation is basically you can only do things like my "Welcome", which does some sound but you can't do anything else during that time (or the only you can do is to run something that takes a fixed amount of time). What you want is something that ideall...

Re: 2 eurocents question about AY-8912 possibilities

I had plans, but did not really act on it, so feel free to experiment :) My idea was to find an encoding to basically generate a series to write on A, B, C, A, B, C, A, B, C, ... computing the best combination of values to write to generate a 8 bit quality sample by just changing the volume value, s...

Re: Request for Help (Pixel-Level Retouching)

Since that's for the 8bit unity, technically it's now possible to use a mouse (through the 8bit hub), and even download/upload files, so maybe a proper image editor is doable on the Oric :)

Re: Request for Help (Pixel-Level Retouching)

I don't know if it can help but there's a tool (named Orichir) made by goyo which allows to do pixel level manipulating. https://ceo.oric.org/orichir/ That could help if it had a tile editing mode: Basically what is needed is the tile equivalent of a character set editor, where you can write some t...

Re: Request for Help (Pixel-Level Retouching)

For this type of thing, it's very hard to do without a tool that allows you to see all the pixels change on the map at the same time, in the actual context of how they are used. Side note: On the Oric there's only one control key, on the left side, so it's not ideal with WASD for movement :) Maybe y...

Re: 2 eurocents question about AY-8912 possibilities

I also wonder if it could enhance the sound quality to spread the nop along the loop content, multiplexed with register writing rather then gather them at the end of the loop content. What do you think ? On msx they did exactly that, using some Viterbi encoding. https://www.msx.org/forum/developmen...

The chip is a 27128 UVPROM with a 16k memory, in this case the Erebus don't work, you must burn an other UVPROM with a ROMDIS pin compatible.
I assume that means this Oric would not work with a Microdisc, Cumulus or Cumana Reborn either, it's not a specific requirement from Erebus?

Re: Erebus does not starts

Maybe it's a problem with the MAP signal, and instead of Erebus you are actually on the real Oric rom.
What about trying to load an actual tape from the tape connector?

(Alternatively I guess we could try to PEEK in the #C000-#FFFF area to check if it's a normal or patched rom)

Re: Erebus does not starts

Did the picture actually start to flicker like that after you typed CLOAD, or is it just a camera problem?

Re: BASIC 10 Liner Competition - Oric Entry

Well done! (and yeah sorry I did not finish mine, totally missed the deadline, for some reason I thought it was in may...) On the other hand, I guess this means a lot more punters looking for Orics this week .. :/ That's ok, there are plenty of Pravetz 8D at "acceptable" prices (all things related) ...

Hi ! How can i make a line with IF THEN ELSE with many instruction after ELSE ? here I have PLOT TX,TY,32 instruction that work with IF T=1 and not with ELSE T=0: ? 120 IF T=1 THEN IF TY<26 THEN TY=TY+1 ELSE T=0:PLOT TX,TY,32 If wonder if this would work: 120 IF T<>1 THEN ELSE IF TY<26 THEN TY=TY+1...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

You know I am not very keen on software that need expansions that did not exist back then (or worse, with technology that did not exist back then), Network access is a bliss though. No need to swap SD cards or USB drives anymore, just FTP or SMB to your retro and be done. Ideal for developing and t...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

Is the Smart Cartridge usable with other devices, like the Speech Synthesize, RS-232 interface, Cumulus/Cumana Reborn/Microdisc?

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

Nice work :) I guess you pretty much have the base for the equivalent of the RetroReplay1541UltimateEthernet something ultimate they have on C64, with the definitive cartridge that allows: - Cartridge games - Multi-Rom with custom software - Ethernet connectivity - Cumulus and Erebus built-in :) Wha...

Looking for a disk version of Loritel

I've been trying to prepare a series of videos about "Oric and Telecoms", and that had led me to acquire some analog modems and VoIP adapters, some French Minitel terminals, some rs232<->minitel cables, got up my Telestrat up and running, etc... Thanks to the heroic efforts of a few persons we now h...
