Re: Twilighte card & sittler card (sdcard/joysticks/mouse)

So, in practice, how is that implemented, is that in the card firmware? By the way, I was thinking of your video on the CEO meet where you said that joystick support was done by tricking out the keyboard handler in ROM calls, and I wondered how these old programmable joystick interfaces actually wor...

Re: Twilighte card & sittler card (sdcard/joysticks/mouse)

Cool!
Now we're talking :D

I assume it works in both direction: You can create folders and files on the Oric, and they are directly accessible from the PC?

Re: Source code repository discussion

I suggest we drop the evangelism for either source control system, Ibisum is obviously a git lover, and I'm a git disliker, and that has nothing to do with knowing in detail the system (and for the record I have worked for years with Visual Source Safe, CVS, SVN and Perforce, and had some occasional...

Re: Source code repository discussion

That was the main justification for going with SVN: Easy to learn and use, hard to misuse.

@Ibisum: What makes gitlab better than GitHub?

Re: Twilighte card & sittler card (sdcard/joysticks/mouse)

Assinie and me have a look in order to drag and drop a file on the twilighte board from PC and execute it easily If it does not work, it will require to code in assembly the client to get data from USB ... What would be awesome - and would make me a customer for the card - is if you could come up w...

Re: Twilighte card & sittler card (sdcard/joysticks/mouse)

Do you have ways to facilitate the transfer of data between the Oric and PC with this card, like to facilitate cross assembling/compilation and transfer to the Oric memory?

Re: Need help fixing Oric 1

Why hack when the work was already done: https://www.oric.org/software/roms_pour_ecrans_60hz-2385.html (You need to create an account to be able to download) And yes, good catch, I totally missed that the machine was in the USA, so I guess the conversion device is managing to compensate for a while,...

Re: Is BD-DOS lost to time?

More exactly, Cumulus is a software emulation, since it was only designed to talk to a SD Card, there's no attempt at handling things like the time it takes to spin a motor, change track, etc... that's why it's super compact. Cumana Reborn is a real Cumana disk controller which just happen to be mod...

Re: Need help fixing Oric 1

What kind of issue you are having with the display? I'll put a bench power supply to on it to check. It was mostly a case of SCART cables having very approximative connections, not everything wired, or not the right values for the resistors, or having the power brick not deliver the right voltage f...

Re: Need help fixing Oric 1

What type of SCART cable are you using?

I know that my video converter did not like the old cable and power brick I had, but after I replaced it with a new self-powered cable from Retrocomputer Shack, I got much more success with the display.

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

[I've split the Source Control discussion to its own topic]

Regarding the Wiki, I managed to get the data in it: https://wiki.defence-force.org/doku.php

What I did not manage is to recreate the users, so I fear everybody will have to recreate their accounts.

Re: Source code repository discussion

Yes I know that GIT is not the same thing as github/lab/etc... these things exist because git is hard to use. It's not that I don't like web stuff, it's just that this webstuff is inadequate. Like seriously lame. It's like GIMP vs PhotoShop. Regarding having everybody work on their own local reposit...

(I split your post to a new topic, avoid reusing topics because it just makes it harder to follow up on issues.)

I'm not a hardware guru so I will not provide any help in that :)

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

and then use the Github/Gitlab interface to submit a pull request, which essentially is a big diff file that has the deltas required to bring the origin repo into the same state as the forked repo. This is pretty smooth and painless once you've drilled it a few times. Does that has to be done on th...

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

I am competent with command line, that's not the actual problem: I just know that when I am tired, stressed, or in a hurry; just missing a ., being in the wrong working directory, forgetting some switch, can lead to catastrophic failure, which almost never happen when using a UI. Good UI show in the...
