Re: Oric Atmos mod 63(b)

Well I don't know what this mod is (don't bother explaining, I guess it's in the service manual, I just didn't bother checking as I have no knowledge in electronics), but yes it's been useful for me! => Now I understand why my very first Oric-1 has a nice boot pattern (checkerboard, sort of), and wh...

Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

All this is beyond my skills, but congratulations for the results ;)

(Just for the record, I might get some day a listing of Mercenary decompilation of the C64 version).

Re: Games Review 2020

Sorry I think I misunderstood the problem.
I thought the problem was the two chars long colour at the right of "Player 1". But I just understand it shows the player coulour!

So forget what I said, I actually didn't notice the problem!

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

Ah, this is for the F16 speed bytes, right? (it's used for the loader part, loading with the standard ROM routines). EDIT : ok, you said it in your post, doh! ;) I'll have to check, but from memory it was giving the best results. Though I'm mixing a bit with Novalight waveform, which I studied (for ...

Re: Games Review 2020

- Ludo : https://www.oric.org/software/ludo-2519.html By the way: how did you get the screenshot at https://cdn.oric.org//games/software/l/ludo//screenshot_2519_SCREEN16.BMP ? It is very weird that it shows that half yellow pawn at the start field. That should not happen, never saw it myself in tes...

Re: Games Review 2020

Yes good idea indeed to have such a list.
I think we lost track of many releases in the 90s and 00s, as they are not commercial ones and had sometimes very little distribution.

Re: Oric extender - a basis for DIY projects and experiments

By the way, do we have a registry of I/O ports around to know which hardware use which? Some file in the svn repo (CSV?) that could be parsed to generate some wiki table maybe? There's an attempt at Seilebost's site (scroll down) http://passionoric.free.fr/eng/oric.htm It's already a nice effort, b...

Re: SEDORIC extended BASIC commands syntax samples/manual?

Thinking now I might 'cheat' a bit and align all pop-ups to the complete right of the screen. At least in that case I do not need to worry about the attributes being incorrect to the right of the pop-up, sparing me the space needed to set charset, ink and paper back. Otherwise it quickly becomes co...

Re: Testing custom tape routines on Emu?

In my Novalight tests, IIRC both had their advantages but Oricutron was better on the speed - Euphoric used to slow down a bit. About your 4800Hz file, beware that files under 11kHz are not perfectly re-read by most players and create loading errors - it's a well-known problem by people that have be...

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

And yes i remember now, many MFM DSK files images are more or less broken (...) What was the purpose of this file format ? From the design/specifications it should support some copy protections but since many images appears to be broken i am not sure anymore. It appeard to allow the disk transfer o...

Re: Testing custom tape routines on Emu?

There's also the hardware tape on Euphoric - but the emulator is plain DOS and may be a bit painful to install these days.

I recall testing Novalight WAV files with both Euphoric and Oricutron.

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

See Space1999.zip containing original DSK, converted HFE image that does work via the Cumana Reborn on my Oric Atmos and finally the image converted back from HFE to DSK using the export to Oric DSK. Which does not work in Oricutron. I spotted a small "bug" in the header: the geometry is missing. I...

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

That's where I'm lost.
I think HXC with usb supports Oric DSK, but not HXC with SD cards - at least this was unclear a while ago, be careful.
