Re: Source code repository discussion

None of this is hard but you have to have seen the rewards of the effort required to use it effectively. Even svn is a pain in the wrong mindset. I can't imagine life without git, but hey ..

Re: Disc based games

Don't forget that almost any game can be a Disc-based game, with TAP2DSK ..

StormLord and SkoolDaze are pretty darned fun. I haven't finished Impossible Mission, but my lady almost did ..

Re: Complete list of Oric Atmos adreeses

I would love to have a look at it.. and also work on converting it to a text file in a .DSK for reference on-Oric, perhaps?

Re: Source code repository discussion

Learning git opens up such an immense world of software resources, and unique and wonderful ways of looking at it, from a developer perspective. But yes, it does require a commitment - nobody can make it for you. Whatever is used, I hope we can help each other with any of the difficulties that might...

Re: Complete list of Oric Atmos adreeses

This is an awesome thread .. am I to assume that one result of it, might be that we have a header (.h) or maybe some other form of code interface derived from this data harvest, which might then be used in apps/frameworks?

Re: Source code repository discussion

gitlab: infinite private repo's, you can easily move from hosted to local-instance gitlab servers if you wanna, and I find the web interface a bit more streamlined, although its of course a taste thing.

Re: Source code repository discussion

Git is flexible enough to cover all cases, from heresy to sainthood. If you want a central repository that a core team, as well as the occasional stranger, can contribute to - then set it up on gitlab (better than GitHub), give one or two trusted Wing Commander's access, and accept Pull Requests whe...

Re: Twilighte card & sittler card (sdcard/joysticks/mouse)

Would it be feasible to hack up a keyboard driver over USB, and use that to transfer stuff over? I wonder what the maximum rate would be, and whether the Twilighte card could saturate an Oric's keyboard handling well enough to be a viable way to transfer stuff over ..

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

My advice: use a local client (git-Fork) to manage your own local repository, just like usual, do proper commits, push your changes to your own fork of the repo, push it upstream to GH/Gitlab when its really ready, and then use the GH/Gitlab interface to make the PR. If you don't want to do a web-ba...

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

So let say we move/import the repository to a hosted git repository, I supposed that means people who want to work on it "fork it", work on their own version, and then send "pull requests"? Yes, this is the general flow that would be used. There'd be a main repository, and one or two folks responsi...

Re: Changed of hosting strategy

I'm a 40 year veteran Unix developer, so I don't have any such quandary with the command line, and am competent either at the command line or at the GUI, although I despise Windows the way you seem to despise BASH, so maybe it evens out a bit ... But anyway, I do understand your requirement... I'm o...

[EDIT: Split the part about Source Control changes into its own discussion]

Since I love git and use it for everything, every day, I could assist with the svn->git migration if needed...
