Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
I had the same problem, but after recapping my Atmos, everything went back to normal. I think the capacitor concerned is the C1 near the ULA chip (mine was 16V 220µf). The bottom was cracked and it had started to leak. It's worth trying it, as you only need to change 3 caps (C1, C8 and C21)... Chee...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
What kind of buzzing? Like 50Hz mains hum (poorly smoothed power supply)? Or other frequency? Do you mean the purring of a happy Oric, but louder? :) Also, what do you have connected to the cassette port, as unwanted signals going into pins 4,5 (the non-cassette I/O pins) will be amplified and spat...

Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
Hi. I haven't been on here in a while, sorry, been on other projects, and haven't used the Atmos since fixing it mainly because i had no software and hadn't gotten around to making the appropriate lead to load tap files from ISS's excellent Android loader app. Anyway, I ordered an Erebus from Steve ...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
[You may indeed have a reset issue, check/replace the capacitor C21 (1uF/10V) -- or next time it "hangs", manually short CPU/6502 Pin 40 to Ground (CPU Pin 1 or 21) with a short wire -- just dab on and let go, if it then resets, the reset is definitely not holding in the reset state long ...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Hi. Further update. I made up some loopback connectors to run the full suite of tests from the diagnostic ROM. TL;DR They all passed but I observed some odd behaviour. The loopbacks I made for the printer and keyboard were not using the standard connectors as I didn't have those available, so I used...

signal-2019-12-08-085024.jpeg Thank You, and, Goodnight :D RAM arrived from Bulgaria (Finally) NOS Fujitsu MB8264-15. It's been sitting there for a few days to be honest, but I was trying to get the Spectrum refurb done, but the keyboard was giving me some grief (its in a Lo>>Profile Keyboard case,...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Imo, there seems to be little or no quality-control in operation from most of these cheap Chinese component manufacturers. So has Phil used to say on HSB, "let's be careful out there." I think you’re right. Best guess the ram I have is because they all appear to work they can’t be managin...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Thanks mike. I’ll get on that while I’m waiting.
I did check the dram lines when I socketed them but I didn’t check from the multiplexer to the ULA. But I’ll go back over everything.

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
That's when this happens you are glad you spent the time installing sockets instead of soldering directly the new chips :D 100% agree. That goes double when you venture into removing the PSG, VIA and CPU! +1 here. I was fully expecting to go down the road of removing the CPU, VIA and PSG, but hopef...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Sorry for the delayed reply, I’ve been on shift this morning and repairing a Spectrum this afternoon and having considerably more success  With the DRAMArduino (I'm not familiar with it), make sure you're testing the chip at the right "speed", because if the DRAM chip is slower than n...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Sounds right to me, so does that mean the CPU, VIA, and AY are ok? This is also hooked up to my Bench PSU and I can see that the Atmos is drawing 700 milliamps. Yes, this is the correct sound and it means 99.99% CPU,VIA and AY are OK (diag EPROM too, obviously :)). So the only suspect is the RAM, u...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner
Ok, So.
A0 & A1 are like this (Pulsing):
A2 is like this:
and A3 is like this:
A4-A7 are low and A8=A15 are all high.
So it looks like it completed the first test and failed on the full test.

Yes, this is the correct sound and it means 99.99% CPU,VIA and AY are OK (diag EPROM too, obviously :)). So the only suspect is the RAM, until it arrives you can try DRAMARDUINO to test your chips. And I think 700 mA is bit higher ... Wow! that's so cool. I don't have an Uno, but I do have a Nano, ...
