How to connect a 3.5" drive

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

Hi Philippe

You may need to get hold of a Cumana drive for the Oric. As this has the smaller 3" drive you will have to replace it with an external PC 3.5" drive powered by an ATX power supply.

As there is no PC connected to the ATX power supply it has to be switched on by bridging pins on the PC power connection block. You need to bridge pin 14 (Green Power Supply On) to pin 15 (Ground) with a wire link.

The pins on the power block can be seen here: -

You will have to use a very old 3.5 drive as the newer PC drives will not work. You can pick up an old PC from a recycling site.

You can see details and pictures of my Oric and Cumana here: -
