HxC SD Card floppy disk emulator - works with Oric?

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

HxC SD Card floppy disk emulator - works with Oric?

Post by ibisum »

Hi,

Per the details on this auction:

http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/detail ... rives)-684

.. this thing apparently works with the Oric .. does anyone know *for sure* that this works? If it does, I'll buy it right away! :)

Interesting, but I suspect it requires a controller card, as it just emulates the disk drive?

Yep. I think this topic has been raised before. Not sure, but I think it is the emulator of floppy drives with an SD card. Needs a controller, though.

Not sure if it emulates also writing, or just reading.

Perhaps one of the French-speaking members of our community can look into it a bit further? There is a link to the details in the auction, but I don't really understand the French reporting about the demo event where Oric support was added.

Ibisum, where's the link you're talking about?
Never found it :?
But if it's similar to something we've already talked about 1 or 2 years ago, yes it requires a controller card (that's probably why it says "Oric with Microdisc" in the auction).

Yes, it requires a Microdisc (or any other controller), as it only emulates the floppy drive.
Support for writing is available for "standard" MFM tracks, which I think is the case for Oric.
