Getting more from your Oric scanned (advance!!).

Post by Silicebit. »

Hi!.

Here is an advance of "Getting more from your Oric" but... only 36 pages of 200 and it have a size of 2.26MB! . I think is time of OCRing first and PDFing after, perhaps the size will be more reasonable.

http://burrosoft.en.eresmas.com/GMO.pdf <----- not valid already.

Cheers.

Alfonso.

Thanks for your work !
This is not *that* big. Some Theoric magazines are 50MB big once scanned. I also saw some PDF of Oric books that were 100MB big.
Yours should be around 12MB... Not shocking anymore, now that we have gigabytes of storage.

If it's ok for everybody, I could add the file to download here:
http://www.defence-force.org/computing/ ... /index.htm

And complete a bit the text:

If you are worried about size you could convert the file to DJVU format.
A lot of people will throw a hissy fit but it offers better quality in a smaller file. And yes it's a standard format.

I believe it uses wavelet compression.

Thanks for the suggestion JamesD.

Well, the size is not problem, I've been pleasingly surprised when I converted all .BMP images to PDF format. The size is only 4.92MB!. :)

The problem now is to get a decent images of the covers, I scanned from a photocopied book and the covers are photocopies. :(

Hi!.

Well, finally the book is completed. I got a more or less decent cover from Hakan Karlsson's site, thanks Hakan!!, and the back cover is handmade. Hey, it is very similar to the original one!!. 8)

Mike, check your e-mail account, you must have a rar file with the book and a review.

Regards.
