Eh? How can you plug a power supply into the expansion bus?
Or ave I missed something?

You can't plug it in but you can make enough contact to kill the machine

Ah yes, I get you, thanks. I'd forgotten it has a proper socket rather than an edge connector.
In which case... I might suggest bypassing the regulator and feeding it with a 5v supply. That shouldn't fry the board if accidental contacts occur with the bus. Mine's like that and I've had no problems (although I confess I did it more for expediency than safety; I don't have a proper Oric power supply).
