Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
I got a working Microdisc, but I'm missing the system disc.
So, I want to buy a system disc, original or copy.

Re: Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
If you can find some 3" disks (for example old Amstrad software), you can try this:

Re: Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
Thanks Dbug, I will try this. I got two Amstrad 6128's and a pack of empty disks, so that's no problem. I have no slave microdisc drive though, only a master, but I guess I could just disconnect the drive? I prefer to have the software on 3 inch disks so I can use the microdisc as it was meant to.
Re: Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
You can also connect a 3.5" drive to the microdisc, and boot from it if you have the correct switches set
Basically you can cheat and get the 3.5" as A and the 3" as B, and format the 3" using the 3.5" as master disc.
The interest in doing that is that it's generally easier to find a 3.5" on a PC to use writedsk

It works! Connected a PC drive to the Oric and I've got Sedoric, 1337 and Space1999 to work so far.

The microdisc controller natively supports up to 4 drives of any type (3", 3.5", 5" and possibly 8" but these are hard to find I guess).

Anyone know how to set the switches to set my 3" as B?Dbug wrote:You can also connect a 3.5" drive to the microdisc, and boot from it if you have the correct switches set

Edit: Nvm, I found it I set switch number 3 to on, and number 2 to off.
Re: Wanted: Microdisc System Disc
I booted sedoric on my 3.5" and tried to use "backup a to b" to copy the sedoric disk to a 3" disk, but it failes with a write error. For some reason backup writes to both sides and 80 tracks, I wonder if it has something to do with the double sided 3.5" drive. The MicroDisc is single-sided, right? I tried the "sector map" program on the 3.5" sedoric disk, which showed 2 sides and 42 tracks. When I used it on the 3" drive, it showed 2 sides and 82 tracks.
