Competition CEO: New Year 2019

It's time to code a game, a demo or something else on your Oric !

CEO has launched a coding competition which will finish at the end of the year. We hope that a lot of people will try to code a few lines and share their experiment. A public and free CEO-MAG will be published with all the software received.
It's time to download OSDK V1.13 or read again Oric's Basic Manual to push your ideas on the scene...

I hope the rules are clear as i didn't take time to translate them, and let google make the job :)

And for french people :

Good luck, and good sharing.
For CEO's team, Didier

Just to be clear, you do not have to use the OSDK: You can use any language, you can use native languages if you want, you can do BASIC, Forth , Assembler, C, Logo or whatever else comes to mind.

Interesting project, I need to think about it :)

Great initiative from the CEO, I am longing to see all the good contributions that will come out of it, and I will also try my best to contribute ! :D

There is one rule though in this contest (only listed on the entry form) that I didn't pay attention to at first but that is of particular
importance: contributions must be original, you may not submit a copy or imitation of an existing software:
See https://ceo.oric.org/lib/exe/fetch.php? ... 019_en.pdf:
(...) declare to be the original author of this software, which is neither an imitation or a copy from another software
Therefore, as I understand it, you may not submit your own version of Pac-Man or Space Invaders for example... Which will actually make the contest all the more interesting as it will foster creativeness!!

So let's hope there will be many of us having a try,

Good luck to all,

Laurent

As it's written in the pdf form :

Code: Select all

declare to be the original author of this software, which is neither an imitation or a copy from another
software (so the software have to be rights free).
So such software as pacman or an invaders clone, copied a lot of times shouldn't be forbidden.
I'm sure that some software using for example "les schtroumpts" won't be rights free.

Ok, thanks for clarifying this Didier!

So I suppose I could get on with my "Heroric" project (clone of H.E.R.O., see my avatar, I'm still hesitating between going full colour with attribute clash, or using AIC mode on this :D) as there is little chance that Atari would sue us.. And by the way this game was (recently I think) adapted to the Amstrad CPC!

I will do some tests with AIC but I'm not very skilled at graphics in the first place, therefore I'm even less skilled at AIC

Not sure I will be focusing on this game now, I may develop something else as an entry for the contest.

Anyway, just wanted to know how many people were considering taking part in the contest ?? Without disclosing anything about your projects, can you just tell whether you are considering participating ?

I hoped to contribute but it's pretty clear that for me, the deadline is getting too close - there's almost no chance that I can achieve something in December!

I think I will. A lot of things on the agenda for various machines nevertheless it should be nice to do something on the Oric. But to be honest it will be a plain dull and uninteresting little something only.

I started to build "something". I hope it will become "something" worth to share till the deadline

I'd have loved to, but unfortunately I have no free time lately, and I wouldn't meet the deadline

I need to find a way to make room in my agenda for starting a new project. I really have to.

Hi Peacer, Symonn & Romuald, nice to hear you're planning to contribute and nice to hear we're more or less in the same league, trying to contribute just "a little something" within the limited timeframe and bearing our various obligations and other commitments :-)

Nice to hear as well that Chema will NOT contribute, as this will afford us a much better chance to win the prize !! :D :D :D :D

Sorry but I don't! I began something but had to stop for other priorities, I won't be able to match the deadline.
I will finish that when I can!
