Hiya y'all,
First up... Steve, the Oric Atmos passed it's first test in the USA.
I have it plugged into my 4-way strip, which is plugged into a socket/power convertor.
The keys click, and PING, ZAP, SHOOT, & EXPLODE all work great.
Need to move onto the next step... getting visual.
Did look at PC World before I left Britain, and was a bit bamboozled by the choice.
Add to the situation that my wife and Dad were with me, and BORED was not the word to describe them, so it was not ideal to take my time and pick something out there and then, even if it meant saving postage.
Have been intreagued by the variety of PAL USB TV Tuners, and right now I am looking at the Hauppauge 566 unit.
Here is an example product page for it.....
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/produc ... 566/925802
Cannot mail order from that site, but could from others.
Looking at USB for the ease of installation, and ability to "plug and play"
my Oric at friend's houses etc.
For your info, I have two PCs...
1) AMD 64 3200+ 2.04GHz, XP Pro, with many USB 2.0 slots.
2) HP 6630, Celeron 500MHz, 98SE, 2 USB (1.1?) ports.
Your thoughts?
Your suggestions?
All help will be most appreciated.

Have you tried feeding the Oric through a Region Free DVD player and then to the NTSC standard TV?
The idea is that the DVD picks up the PAL signal and converts to to NTSC where the picture can be seen on the TV.
If this does not work then do a Google search for "convert pal to NTSC" for suitable equipment.
Best wishes
Frank
I'm not sure but wouldn't this do what you're looking for ?
http://www.goyona.com/CRS-2000_MANUAL.pdf
This allows you apparently to plug any scart device (so, Atari, Oric, Amiga ?) and converts the signal to S-Video output.
Or this, to a VGA monitor:
http://www.goyona.com/CM-345S_Manual.pdf (I've read reports that it worked with an Amiga)
Hope this helps

I have not, simply because I do not have Region Free DVD Player, although it is an item that I keep contemplating looking at getting sometime.
Have already ordered this card...

One benefit of getting such a card is that I can grab stills and video of the Oric in operation.
