Oric Atmos now at Vienna Retrogaming Musem ..

I'll have more to say about this as the weeks go by, as I'm now a curator of the 8-bit systems of the musem, but just wanted to let you guys know that as of a few days, we now have a working Oric Atmos system on display, available for folks to come and use. The Atmos is really putting a shine on the...

Re: Upgrade Time: Encounter

Its really beautiful and I can't wait to play it on a real system (*).

(* BTW, I have added an Oric Atmos to the Retrogaming museum here in Vienna, it can be played/presented on there too if you like... at the moment the museum gets thousands of visitors a week ..)

Re: Oric-1 Reborn - Possible Project?

I always imagine an Atmos with a snap-on adapter that covers the ports completely, and makes it portable. It could therefore be the case that a real Atmos would be the front-end of, say, an Exos-like configuration of Atmos (Next-Generation) cores running on something modern, also enclosed in the sna...

>I also have plan to run Lua on Oric one day...

!!! How''s this gonna work? Surely we don't have enough RAM ..

I dunno why BASIC is more interesting than C for this .. seems to me that it SCC would be great to add to the tooling ..

This is an awesome project - an editor and an assembler in the same image? Bonkers! Definitely going to be putting this through some paces ..

Re: Upgrade Time: Encounter

The graphics are really beautiful and reminiscent of early Hypercard stacks, which imho lifts the Orics' stature somewhat. Imagine if Tangerine had done something Macintosh'y, eh? You kind of hint at this future with your art style ..

Re: ORIC TALK BACK

I'll let you know, I haven't really opened the box yet and had a look, but I'll have an intense retro session this weekend and try to scope out as much as I can .. I don't think its that different from the other speech synths you've had experience with, but at the moment its a bit of a black box.

ORIC TALK BACK

Well, I've managed to get my hands on one more coveted Oric peripheral - the ORIC TALK BACK voice synthesizer, which was sent to me by another old-school Oric fan who made the thing himself based on the article .. kind of exciting. I'll have a poke with it over the weekend and report in when I get a...

Re: New toy: SOUNDTOY

Nice suggests, I'll do 'em .. but its supposed to be a HEX input, dunno how I can enforce that too much .. didn't even think of entering DEC, lol.

Indeed, there are a lot of choppers in the Oric .. but quite a lot of faaat synthy waveforms ripe for the plucking, too! :)
