Re: Textmode Sideways Scroller

Nice program, for a text mode scroller I am surprised at how tolerable the 6 pixels scrolling step seems to be. The game certainly reminds me of Konami's Scramble, however I am not hearing any sounds (I am using Clock Signal 2018-09-12) and the text which says "you hit something" is somewh...

Re: Gotek USB floppy emulator

Yes, with buttons you change the selection and the image number is displayed on the 7-segment LCD. This is the concept used in all such emulators and the image files have to be named in a special way (i.e. DSK0001.HFE etc.). The problem is actually when you have lot of images in the USB-stick. That...

Dbug wrote: Tue Oct 02, 2018 9:43 am Interesting, did not know these universal game cases, thanks for the link :)

I wonder how a 3" floppy would fit in...
I do not think I have a 3" floppy around in my house but I could check with a meter and the proper dimensions. ;)

Re: Modern Software Packaging

This is a great idea! The need for a standard packaging reminds me of the Universal Game Case (cf http://thevideostoreshopper.com/universal-game-case/universal-game-case-%7C-full-sleeve-insert/) which can host many (console) cartridge types and looks like this: http://thevideostoreshopper.com/images...

Re: Poly 1 Computer

The look of this kitten is quite special: with its all plastic enclosure, side handles and this weird recessed square at the top it is almost as if it was designed to be used as a swimming pool floating computer. ;) I can picture three people gathering around it in the pool : one typing at the keybo...

Re: Gotek USB floppy emulator

How does one change disks with a Gotek exactly? Using buttons and the 8 segment counter display?
I find the idea generally interesting but if one has to remember the numbers of all their disks I must admit I do not feel very motivated to even test it.

Re: VIA "networking"

It will be very helpful if someone patch the standard Atmos ROM for Slave machines, so it executes automatically CLOAD"" after power-on. Meanwhile That's actually a very good idea! If the slaves have a patched ROM, it can even do things like default to black paper and ink, so nothing is m...

Re: Merging video output?

I like the idea of a 12 bit RGB output. This is equivalent to the Amiga/STE color range and allows very impressive images. The issue though being that - as Mike mentioned - one would still have to deal with the constraints of attributes which would be even trickier as one would have to somewhat know...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

Also I've been in touch with Mike Brown, who has in the past done a lot of thinking about what the internals of the ULA might look like. I knew he would be very interested in the die shot, as would any Oric enthusiast. Holy kitty, what an understatement. ;) A huge fluffy thanks for your efforts in ...

Re: Re-encoding Oricutron captures for Youtube

This is indeed a nice trick, however there is more to this issue than just the encoding parameters. YouTube uses bit per pixel values for each resolution (240p, 360p, 720p) which are likely proportional to the number of bits of the resolution. In clear, this means that it should use the same bit per...

What I've done below is to extend the side-by-side image to include the same section from this third image, and then to colour the original two images to highlight the same parts: Huhu, reading the first paragraphs I was going to suggest coloring, only to be rewarded on the next paragraph with exac...

Re: Monitor for Orix

This looks really nice and practical, great effort!

It is really a shame that I do not have an Oric machine, otherwise I would just pounce on the Twilighte board and play with it. ;)
