Yes, same here: slowdowns, long reply time, timeouts.
Hoping Dbug's not experiencing boring / time consuming problems.

Re: Experimental very fast tape loading

Hello! I need your help to test the reliability of an expected improvement on the very fast tape loading routines. Fabrice gave me (huge) hints on how to measure things in the best possible way (with a 3µs precision). How to operate, once you downloaded the test kit: - you need a perfect quality WAV...

John S. Sinclair on Oric.org

Hi all,

Dbug, it seems John S. Sinclair replied to your comment on Zorgons Revenge ;)
http://www.oric.org/software/zorgon_s_revenge-545.html

Glad to see he's still around, I'd love to make a small interview (having to read again the one Steve made though).

:D Very nice indeed! So much efforts in the details!
Lucasfilm's Zak Mac Kracken didn't even have such a design for teleportation: it just used a sound and erased or re-drew the hero's sprite.

Re: And the CEO ?

That was a great meeting last Saturday. At least 12 people were there. It didn't begin so well as the meeting place was locked and nobody was there to open us. We lost one hour but thanks to Jede (and Coco.oric's credit card) we were able to quickly rent another meeting room, which was well equiped....

Re: Oric 1 and Atmos - repair help needed

Sorry in advance for the newbie guess I'm offering, but who knows... In which order do you plug the Oric power supply? I remember my Oric-1 didn't boot if I plugged it first to the Oric itself, and then in the wall plug. It kept stuck at the RAM pattern, like yours. I had then to unplug on the Oric ...

Re: Oric 1 and Atmos - repair help needed

The Oric 1 has one I don't remember having seen, but it was certainly the one for the first Oric-1s. I do confirm, it was the one of my Oric-1, one of the early ones with grey logo. Also available on Euphoric with ram pattern = 2 (in euphoric.ini configuration file) Useful to test programs as it ch...

Re: "music" in Xenon meteors noise

Oricutron also has accurate AY noise (or should ;-) ) I can't hear the "bells" with Oricutron on the Xenon-1 meteors screen though; maybe an embryo of it when I apply some noise reduction but nothing obvious as in the samples I posted. I mean the sound is perfect, but might not have the o...

Re: Track reading (Sedoric / FDC)

Wow, thanks for the reply. I'm quite sure the answer to my question is there, but I have to confess I read it twice so far and felt lost before the end each time due to lack of knowledge ;) Thankfully I think it has all the keys to do some Google and improve!

Re: Tape Header Format

Thanks for the update! Aha, sorry when I was talking about "speed" in my old (and wrong!) synchronisation understanding, I meant the tape player speed which can vary a little form one player to another! In my youth I thought the synch header was used by the Oric to adapt itself to a tape t...

Re: Yet Another

I think there were a few protected software, for instance XL-DOS is a well known one. IIRC a few games / utilities were too, but I forgot which.

About Read Track, maybe this topic will bring some (depressing) information!
