Hi Brana.
As far as I know there is not a way to set a given CPU speed on oricutron. Either you run it at standard 1Mhz speed or in turbo mode (highest possible speed).
It would be a nice addition, though.
Cheers.

Very nice article, very nice oric reference (I felt the same when I received mine, and also was hooked on forever) and very very true about the state of current education. Of course in Spain is the same, if not even worse. One of the problems I face everyday is that students at the university simply...

Hi Barnsey, I am watching this thread with interest, though I know nothing about this game. There are certainly routines for plotting pixels and lines and circles without using the ROM (and much quicker). You can have a look in the repository, but certainly they are not drop-in replacements. I exper...

For the road to airfield i am considering using embedded codes in the graphics to indicate rough terrain, road verges and serious collisions :) Embedded codes are like ascii codes 8 to 11, 13 to 15 and 24 to 25. They are not used in HIRES and are shown in black like code 64. I used embedded codes i...

And it is one of the reasons why fonts 6 pixels (7 also?) high are so efficient. Anyway the problem is still there. Of course a 6x6 tile would be the easiest, fastest and more logical solution, but again, if converting a game, sprites should be reduced in size, or else more tiles would be used, whic...

BTW the Oric will be on display at our Retro Gaming Weekend 7th/7th May Swannington, Leicestershire, showing the newest games! As an advertisment they posted this video of Space:1999 running on a real Oric (good opportunity to see how fast it loads and how it looks/sounds on a real machine) http://w...

This is a very interesting question indeed. I have been lately reading about how 2D tiled games were done on the speccy and other platforms and this is one of the constraints I found if these games were targetted to the Oric. As I have not done any tests I cannot tell about how this extra CPU cost c...

BTW DBug, in the wikipedia article it states: This modification enabled the Oric-1 user to add a second rom (containing the Oric Atmos system) to a spare rom socket on the the Oric-1 circuit board. Then, using a basic DPST (double pole single toggle) switch, the user could then switch between the ne...

Thanks! and a big thankyou to all who helped (I see you're still here thrust26) This illustrates my point about the new games rating in oric.org. New Oric games are comparable now to the best games of similar 8-bit machines... oldies and even new games. Dbug, maybe it could be a good idea to update ...
