Re: Oric Atmos manual wanted

If you haven't got the Atmos yet maybe you should wait to see if you get a manual with the computer? Boxed Orics have silly asking prices now. Baz has an Atmos for sale - with French manual. Re: Oric Atmos manual wanted

I've got some but I'll need to check the condition. I know some have the odd scuff.

Do you have a perfect Atmos you're looking to complete?

Re: Oriclopedia: Tansoft

I think part of the reason for the Atmos was to make it compatible with the Microdisc. Oric-1 came with twin EPROM and manufactured ROM and the EPROMs don't seem to have the ROMDIS needed for the Microdisc. I think it caused a headache which may have been why the Micrdisc was delayed and not release...

Re: Oricutron

Mine doesn't do that.
I wonder if you have the right Roms as you had another Rom issue.

That said, I never had a lot of joy trying to get the Telestrat working in Oricutron. But I've just tried it and it works fine.

Re: Oriclopedia: Tansoft

1043 titles is not bad at all :) Does that include unique games, or also French versions of Tansoft programs and Spanish releases of Loriciels games? That's all the commercial titles I could find. UK, French and a few more. Not everything is there. None of the listings. type-ins etc were included. ...

Re: cataloguing tapes

OCR can help but it can get very confused by computer listings with the 0 with a line through it getting turned into an 8 and it can get hash signs completely wrong.
The better and clearer the print, the better chance you have.

Re: Telestrat failure?

TBH I don't see much difference between that and meths. Both are mostly ethanol, with methanol added to (theoretically) make it unsuitable for drinking, and something like Bitrex (same reason), purple colourant/strong scents ... My dad was a pharmacist. We used to get people coming in to his shop w...

Re: Telestrat failure?

Surgical spirit can be useful for softening up ink in pens. Or just thinning the ink. The purple isn't ideal for that. I'm not sure what it is but you can get a residue left from meths. I'm not sure what the actual difference is. I think the Americans call Meths 'denatured alcohol' and surgical spir...

Re: Oric Games Trade

My original tape only loaded about 7 games. There was one that seemed OK, but I only got it to load twice, I think.

Re: Oric Games Trade

Some games like Manic Miner have become rare because t hey were popular and everybody wants it, but there aren't enough to go round. Collectors of software want the Oric version of Minic Miner even if they don't have an Oric. The rare programs usually didn't sell many. Either because they were a sma...

Re: Telestrat failure?

Lighter fluid is similar to white spirit, both being based on naptha, but with different additives. (Similar stuff to dry-cleaning fluid.)

Meths is very useful. If the lighter fluid doesn't touch it, I try meths.

Then there's surgical spirit.

And vinegar.

Thanks.
Yes, it may be from a book, but I'm not sure which one.

Cool. I'll have a play of Macadam Bumper ;o)

There's a small issue I noticed when saving a snapshot. It just saves the filename with no added extension.
(Obviously you can add it, but if you don't the files don't show up when you try and load.)

For the first time ever, I discovered a brand of a/s foam that turned to mush with age. I don't know if it's still conductive, but it is black, sticky and an absolute mess to remove from the chip, fingers, everything it touches :(
Try lighter fluid. It cleans a lot of stuff like this.

I'm curious now to see what the question were.
You can PM them to me if you like.

'Once in a blue moon' - The blue moon is a rare occurence, so the expression means hardly ever, or not very often, or almost never.
