Re: Oric logo and trademark

I think this firm just wants to market some products legally and can't take over existing tradmarks so they've designed their own which are different to the original. I bet it's hard work finding out who, if anyone owns the rights to Oric. So it's a lot simpler doing new logos that look similar. I d...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

- The "C" is not correctly closing: If you imagine you put a small black square in the "mouth" of the C, in mine the angle is larger than 90 degrees, on the actual Oric one it's less than 90 degrees There are two versions of the logo. The original version has a more closed, bigger C. The French ver...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

They can start claiming us to retire the games from free download or something. Or, worse, they could somewhat get the rights of the ROM and ask everyone to retire any ROM image around. Or with SEDORIC or Microdisc ROM and prevent people from having programs that use SEDORIC to boot or disk control...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

The same company had a Jupiter Ace business which they closed down. It seems a bit odd to focus on such minor interest machines after working on C64. I think we are OK using the original logo as it is not their retro-inspired one. Ours is the original. If anyone was infringing on trademark designs i...

Re: Diagnostic cartridges?

There was someone on Facebook that made a few of these, but all the spare ones were sold, I think.

Re: Oric logo and trademark

Hmm. This firm seem to have several retro companies. Their application is for retro inspired products. I think our use is retro, not retro inspired and uses the original logo, not theirs. I guess the owners of Oric has become obscured and it is hard to trace any official owner, but I think any origi...

Re: Psycho III

I listed Psycho II and psycho III when I did the software list and I got most of the info from looking through magazines and books. I don't remember where all the info came from but I had the full set of Oric Owner, Oric Computing most of Théoric and Micr'Oric. There's was a French site that listed ...

Re: Oric-1 Repair

I might well have a 24s10. I'll have a look. If I don't have a new one I have a lot of old boards that you might be able to pull one from.

BTW I used to carefully peel off the warranty label and restick it. You could do it 2 or 3 times before the glue failed.

Re: Twilighte's software list

I think he did a lot of things that didn't get finished. Once you get half way through the program becomes more difficult to work and the weight of code can slow things down. I talked to Jonathan about this problem with my own (Basic) program and he said he experienced that sort of thing. He'd write...

Re: Thoughts about WAV tapes repository

I've used programs like Audio Cleaning Lab to boost / improve audio files, but the risk is in overdoing it and creating more problems. Sound can become distorted. There are filters that can be used to try and automatically remove unwanted peaks - like Dolby or like the ones that try and remove click...

Re: Thoughts about WAV tapes repository

OK , that's interesting. So the mutli-part tapes will be worth doing. My thoughts were to load the files onto disk and then CSAVE them back to tape so that it gave a fresh recording - but of course this doesn't work when the disk area clashes. Is there any way of dumping a file into an unused area t...

Re: Thoughts about WAV tapes repository

How accurate are Tap images? I mean we can combine files to a single tap file so it can include the original loaders and protection. Can the combined file be turned back into separate files? I think for preservation of some tapes a Wav would be useful but a Tap file would work for most. So far I've ...
