Re: Using a Gotek to archive tape games?

Well yes, there was parity errors, and no, the process is not complicated, it's just very slow, requiring you to record, check parity problem, adjust, record, check, adjust record checkkkkkkk kdkdddsfgdsjgølkjsdafgkldsjfglødsajfgløsdfjglsdfgdfg... I've some patience for interesting stuff, but that'...

Re: Using a Gotek to archive tape games?

Imo, WavClean/Wav2Tap needs a real time update for the 21st century, where you can load stuff directly from the tape and see dynamically what happens when you change the volume, tweak the azimuth Any new tool would be cool - pleaaaaaaaase keep the parity error checking ;) About real time, have you ...

Re: Using a Gotek to archive tape games?

Well it's been here for a while ;) https://sourceforge.net/projects/euphorictools/files/Tape%20tools/WAV%20format/ See http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1082#p12487 for the latest "big" release. I had updated versions in the works (especially to produce SLOW files, and convert STOR...

Re: Using a Gotek to archive tape games?

I first tried to sample the wav files, but I've gave up: I was not able to find a version of wavclean / wav2tap / etc... that runs on Windows 64. A single program that could accept whatever wav file you have (not only "8bit mono 4.8kz") and outputs a .tap file would be nice to have. Strange; the ta...

Re: Using a Gotek to archive tape games?

The version on Oric.org is the transfer done by Jean. It claims "no transfer errors" (meaning "no transfer errors detected"). Did you try playing it on ROM 1.0? Sometimes, problems can be easily fixed ;) Loading on a real Oric is not the best to be sure you end with an error-free file. Now the topic...

Re: New Guy here from USA

If you can handle either Bulgarian or ROM swapping (is it socketed?), don't rule out the Pravetz 8D. It seems to be much more readily available than the Atmos, and cheaper too. It's a full Oric clone, with no hardware differences documented that I'm aware of. Well, I see different models exist so I...

Re: SCSI harddrives...

I've bought HDDriver long ago and there's an option to format up to 512Mb Windows-compatible partitions. So at the time, I bought a few 512Mb SD Cards, and I can put them in a PC, copy the files, have them back into the UltraSatan and boot the ST with them.
I'm happy with it ever since !

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

I've been fantasising of modelling an expansion bay style enclosure that can accommodate the Atmos/Oric by just sliding it on to the base, so there'd be a box under the Oric for the PCB's and relevant ports for USB receptacles, etc. I'm kind of fatigued by the cable mess of my Oric setup and would ...

Re: SCSI harddrives...

I've bought an UltraSatan a while ago and I've been really happy with it.
Still have the whole "Link II" things for SCSI, but haven't used it in years.
(That being said, I don't plug the ST every day... A few times a year, at best).

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

It looks great indeed.

I see the batch is sold, time to think about it and too late ;)
So, will there be a V2? (if you love challenges: with additional 3.5" drive in the case? :p )

Forum's seach engine

Hi, I'm not going to start by an intro on "how it is important and cool to be able to find back information in such forum that has years and years of useful information" (ok, just did it ;) ) Now I experienced a strange behavior: I was looking for the thread about the game O-Thrust. So I just typed ...

Re: Bocco's adventures

But I'm quite sure it happened to me before. I tried to search the forum but it seems that the search engine has sometimes difficulties finding very old posts - and that Dbug already told about issues with the search. It's not really an issue with old messages, it's more the fact that the search en...
