Re: VIA "networking"

I have exactly the same in my mind! I planed to connect the 4 Orics printer ports with simple ribbon cable, of course STB and ACK wires should be crossed. Interesting is how the master will talk to any particular slave #1,#2 or #3. IMO this can be done fully in software using kind of packet protocol...

Re: Merging video output?

I don't want to interrupt discussion but just to share that after I created real button de-bouncer now synchronization is simple and works fine! Let's make some final decisions related to the design of the future needed hardware: 1. How many Orics we need ? In my opinion 4 is OK! I'm asking because ...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

I am so annoyed at myself for not seeing that. Now me too :) - actually you answered to my Q2 too - excluding ULA from the suspects, taking the words "inherent design feature" from the book literally and looking at the PCB the anser is obvious: there is no decoupling capacitor for IC18 :D That's it...

Re: Merging video output?

Done! It work always now!
Replaced button with Arduino (to avoid ringing) and following particular power-on sequence Orics start synchronized.
I will post more samples with color mixing asap.

Start to think about a clever color mixing - I don't have very creative ideas...

Re: Merging video output?

... and to summarize although it's possible to control ULA counters, it's not enough for stable work (with more than 2 Orics it will be nightmare). I think the best is to have a way to be able to drop single pulse from the 12MHz clock. Any other ideas? My next step is create new ROM with vertical an...

Re: Merging video output?

Well, thanks to the recent great work of Mike Brown on ULA documenting we can move on! :) Important : All information about the undocumented feature of ULA's pin19 - Red video line is confirmed and working exactly as in the MJB Documentation/Schematics ! Here is the new simple schematic I've created...

Re: Taptap v2018 : bug fixes, improvements

Great! I like it. Here is one quick solution for GetCiommandLine: function GetCommandLine : pchar; {$ifdef win32} stdcall;external KernelDLL name 'GetCommandLineA'; {$else} var I: Integer; S: String; begin S := ''; for I := 1 to ParamCount do S := S + ParamStr(I); GetCommandLine := ^S; end; {$endif}...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

Absolutely incredible work! Thank you all Mike Brown, Mike Connors/Datel and dreamseal. In our Oric are hidden lot of secrets but 2 questions related to ULA puzzled me for years and I lost hope to found the right answers... Q1: Why they connect ONLY the Blue (actually the Red ) video line with R26 (...

Re: Taptap v2018 : bug fixes, improvements

Cool and very useful tool, thanks! I tried to compile it for Linux with Lazarus but build failed. After some hacking it seams promising (need to find replacement for TDirectory, TPath ...). But I wonder if it will be better to rewrite it again  in C for portability and add the sources to OS...

Re: Downloadable old magazines

I don't know how, but I have them all ;).
I've uploaded them temporary to GoogleDrive HERE, access is granted to everyone.
@Dbug: Pls, notify me when you transfer the files to your library so I can remove them from GD.

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

Great progress, ThomH! After I copied ROM related files to the proper directories everything work under macOS+Xcode. Attached you can find my updated (actually newly rewritten) rotation speed tester for Oric+DISK][ interface in DSK/NIB/WOZ format. (NIB doesn't work for me in Clock Signal). Now speed...

SedOric-3 and INIT command

This is my recent Oric-toy configuration: mypic.jpg It includes: - Oric Atmos - Original Microdisc controller - Drive A: Gotek floppy emulator with OLED and buzzer mods (I will post more info in separated thread about it). - Drive B: 3-inch double-sided drive, max 42 tracks. Everything works perfect...
