Re: Oric on VGA monitors
Hi Symoon, The circuit takes the RGB and composite synch from the Oric output socket and by digital means produces buffered signals into 75 Ohms of RGB Vertical & Horizontal synch for VGA. In the old days this was accomplished by taking a copy of the composite synch and low-pass filtering for Ve...

Re: Oric on VGA monitors
Hi Chema
A circle on the Oricutron is 3.4"x3.4"...1:1, the same program generates a circle 8.3"x6.5"...~4:3 on the VEGA screen which is 7:4. I must say I am unable to think of a reason. Is the synch rates from the output socket different to those used for the RF output do you know?

Oric on VGA monitors
I have noticed a lot of interest in a topic on SCART to TV. I tried this without success; I believe because the Oric RGB synch signal is inverted (WRT UK TVs) and, anyway, taking over the home TV was not on. I therefore made a simple circuit to convert the Oric output to VGA which is synch separated...

Re: Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
I post this here in case anyone gets in a twist like I did. Having old tapes, but not the recorder on which they were made, I have played them back on two recorders with little success. One is a Bush slow recording shown in above post. The next I tried did not work with my programmes at all. I have ...

Re: ORIC SDCARD
I don't know whether this post helps in any way to this topic. However I found it recently. I made and sold one of these mapping units back in the eighties (to someone in Norway I think!). It allows one to use the memory already in the ORIC-1 which is behind (?) the display memory. The small program...

Re: Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
That is most interesting Symoon, thank you. As an aside it says to me that the system is a classic example of a dash to market. It highlights the problem of sloppy tape players. I have measured the frequencies of the slow tapes from the one I have (see attachment). Also observe the HF print through ...

Re: Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
Thanks for that Symoon.
If the VIA 6522 detects "positive transitions" I suspect that the ORIC tape input should work if just square waves are applied to it.
However, I have quite a lot to think about now. Thanks for the info, I will get back to you at some stage if I may.

Re: Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
PS begin I have just realised that I should be able to reconstitute (stitch together) the sine-wave frequencies 'clean' from my computer analysis (the analysis seems to be more robust than the ORIC) and convert the frequencies to fast, or any speed! Attached is my only reasonably clean WAV file. I w...

Re: Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
Hi Symoon, Seasons Greetings. Thank you for the prompt reply. If I understand correctly wherever the synch sequence starts on the tape( sometimes the signal is faded very low and increases) but the synch sequence ends with 111 then restarts with start bit 0, then data ( MSB first as rs232) 01101000 ...

Old tapes-analysis and convertion to text
I see your posts Symoon and perhaps you could supply some info on the oric/atmos tape system signal processing. For a couple of months I have been attempting to take old tapes(print through different/poor playback deck) and correct their frequency response to allow decoding. This has been done on a ...

Re: Paste from clipboard problem
Sorry folks to give you all this trouble. I don't want to waste your time unnecessarily. Your efforts are much appreciated. I got it in pasted in by a fiddle, see post above; same file I emailed. Don't blame the OCR it was done from a printed listing on a 1984 dot matrix printer. I think it did quite...

Re: Paste from clipboard problem
Iss said - try the latest unofficial build from here: http://iss.sandacite.com/oricutron/ (you can choose 32 or 64 bit). - try to paste the listing in smaller parts i.e. select 20-30 lines copy/paste, than next 20-30 lines and so on ... :) It didn't seem to want to let me paste it in bits. HOWEVER,...

Re: Paste from clipboard problem
wow thanks guys. Quite a lot to soak up there. Peacer Did you try it more than once I sometimes get a couple of hundred lines before it stops; once I only got one. Don't know exactly how to send ~1254 lines of text to you. Is it a timing problem. my machine is an ASUS z97-p with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7...
