Re: RIP Ian Sinclair

Sad news. Condolences to the Sinclair family. IJK was well-liked as one of the supporters of Oric in the early days. Everyone seemed to have a copy of Xenon 1, so it's a huge part of my early Oric life. It's kind of nice that the keyboard has the IJK keys close together. I often glance down when I'm...

Re: Games like Frelon

Psychiatric is quite good. There is some clashing but it often isn't so obvious. The screens are fairly basic which is part of the trick. Frelon has a lot of space between objects. Psychiatric has a nice use of foreground and background colour to have the ladders in the forground and the character g...

Re: 65c22

I sold a couple of Oric boards to a guy that reckoned the 65c22 wasn't compatible with the Oric. He said 65c02 was fine but not the 65c22. I'm not sure what the difference is that make it a problem, but I've tried to stick to 6522 as long as I can.

Re: "Autoroute" by Peter Shaw

You're at the wrong end ! Up north it's much better. ;o) Actually the M6 was entirely closed 2 or 3 times recently. I remember seeing a film of the M6 shortly after it opened with hardly any vehicles on it. Those were the days ! I did go down in 1998 when the eclipse was going to be visible (in theo...

Re: You Suffered A Catastrophic Failure, Please Surrender Your Server

What a hassle.
Well done getting it working. I'll keep an eye out for any glitches.
As others said - many thanks for your efforts.

Re: Telestrat failure?

It looks similar to the Atmos/ Oric-1 boot screens that you get prior to he main screen. Typical failure to boot. Could be all sorts of things. I'm not sure what sort of RAM is in the Telestrat but the other Orics are well known for faulty RAM. Electronic equipment needs to be used to keep it workin...

Re: Oric AtmoStrat GX

I was sent one but it didn't seem to work so I sent it back.
It was using the odd 5V voltage so I was struggling to find a suitable power supply.

I've emailed George to ask if he's OK and not heard anything back. Anyone heard anything from him recently ?

Re: "Autoroute" by Peter Shaw

I think Peter Shaw wrote one of the books of BASIC listings. Ah yes, He did "Games for Your Oric", and "More Games for Your Oric". I don't see that title listed though. I think he also wrote for some of the computer magazines so it may have come from one of those. Home Computing Weekly or Your Compu...

Re: Oricutron and illegal opcode 80

The oric-1 version seemed to have a few bugs as it would crash at odd times. I was never sure if it was programming error or dodgy tape loading though. Is Oricutron being updated? I've had some odd thing happen with it - it often crashes to the editor screen - but I'm not aware of updates still bein...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

I think this firm just wants to market some products legally and can't take over existing tradmarks so they've designed their own which are different to the original. I bet it's hard work finding out who, if anyone owns the rights to Oric. So it's a lot simpler doing new logos that look similar. I d...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

- The "C" is not correctly closing: If you imagine you put a small black square in the "mouth" of the C, in mine the angle is larger than 90 degrees, on the actual Oric one it's less than 90 degrees There are two versions of the logo. The original version has a more closed, bigger C. The French ver...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

They can start claiming us to retire the games from free download or something. Or, worse, they could somewhat get the rights of the ROM and ask everyone to retire any ROM image around. Or with SEDORIC or Microdisc ROM and prevent people from having programs that use SEDORIC to boot or disk control...
