Re: Diagnostic cartridges?

Well the diagnostic ROM can be used without the additional board. You just swap the Oric ROM for it and boot up. I think Richie (Vyper) on the AtariWorld forum made one for himself and he'd probably be willing to build you one. I think they need a few boards to make it worthwhile getting the boards ...

Re: Different tape input sound volume

Is that a French Atmos? No modulator!

The ROM is also the later one - not sure if that makes any difference?

Re: Sedoric 'utility' wanted...

I think there was a utility to mark bad sectors, but I think it needs a good area for the DIR menu. Sometimes it's the DIR menu that gets messed. I think if the other sectors are OK you can copy some good files over to a good disk. Tools like BDDISK and Nibble may be able to help identify bad parts ...

Re: Erebus Batch November 2019

My tapes folder is 12Mb. With some files that aren't .Tap files and some in folders that I didn't include. I did go and reduce all the filenames down to 8 letters. So I think there should be sufficient room. I'll need to go and have another look and see if I can get more on there. There are a lot of...

Re: Gamebase Oric V1.00

I share your pain, Dave. We were living in Scotland and have been considering returning. But then the situation in Scotland isn't that great. They get more money per head from the government than we do hear in Cumbria thanks to the Barnett Formula. They get about £1.30 per head for every pound gener...

Re: Erebus Batch November 2019

I got mine supplied with miniSD card which seems to work fine. I had to plug it in my laptop as my USB SD card reading thing didn't seem to work. I had to rename a few files. (Make sure they arent' in a folder !!!) I'll need to get some more cards to get all my files on there as it only seemed to al...

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Here's the other version.
I would focus on the power supply mod and use an alternative to improve data lines.

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Has anybody done this and confirmed it works to avoid problems with external peripherals? This is the first time I see this mod.... The power supply mod works. I'm not sure how altering the Oric works with other things. The mod I have is with the 125 chip and that Oric wouldn't work on its own, las...

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Fixed, I hope. There's another version of this modification which fits a 74LS125 in the IC11 space. I left that version as it stops the Oric working without the disk drive IIRC. I have an external add-on that fits a chip between the expansion port and the disk interface leaving the Oric intact. (I t...

Re: Erebus Batch November 2019

Thanks for the info. I think most of mine are SDHC - and aren't mini ones. The mini card I got was 128Gb or something. I think all my original files have short names, but I'm aware of a lot of the ROM download sites that add information to the filename, like adding a year and saying things are PD, (...

Re: CEO-Mag Christmas gift: John Sinclair interview available

Some of the listings arent' too easy to read once it is converted to Pdf. I think it reduces the resolution(?) I scanned many myself but a few articles were gathered from online magazine scans, such as here https://archive.org/details/popular-computing-weekly?&sort=titleSorter&page=2 OCR might help ...

Re: T U G

TUG changed to Oric Owner's User Group - O.O.U.G or OUG, when the Oric-1 came out and the focus moved from the Microtan to the Oric. Bob Green seemed to be the main man behind OUG. Instead of the Tansoft Gazette or TUG magazine they came out with Oric Computing. OUG seem to have some conection with ...
