Re: Questions to CC65 users

... +1 Using C is great for prototyping, creating the main structure of your code, small utilities, but far from the needs of serious programming that pushes the limits of the machine. For that, you need asm. Plain and simple. Mixing C and asm with the current OSDK toolchain is very simple. When Fa...

Re: Networking Orics.

IIRC only IJK made sense, because
1/ it plugs in the printer port and can be used with a disk unit
2/ it uses the STROBE signal so sound is not corrupted

But I may be wrong and only a few games support it. Blake's 7 does (or should do, at least it works on the emulator)

Re: PC to Oric 3.5" floppy

You know there is an elastic band inside those drives, do you? With time, this band loses its properties and drives stop working properly. You can buy a new one and change it. That is one of the first things that people do to repair old 3" drives. Some retro shops still sell those belts. They had th...

Re: PC to Oric 3.5" floppy

I have an Amstrad CPC 664 which came with a bunch of 3 inch disks. Most of them are unreadable, some give random read errors... but I can format and copy new data and they work quite reliably.

Maybe time simply did its job and damaged the data on them... :?

No idea. But if you find any information regarding how information is stored in a Jasmin disk, please let me know

Re: re microdisc floppy controller board

I have 2 3.5 floppy drives taken from a PC and I am using a flat cable. The only thing you need is setting one floppy as DS0, which will be drive A or 1 (by default PC's were configured as DS1 as they did not follow the Shuggart norm and they did not use the lines to select ds0-3). You can alter the...

Re: Substraction and Addition

Subtraction in the 6502 always takes the carry into account, and it works the opposite as with addition. If the carry is clear, the sbc operation additionally subtracts 1. You need, then, to set it before the subtraction of the low byte and it will be cleared if the result decrement end past zero, s...

Re: Networking Orics.

Yep.. quite similar to the info I posted about people using the ESP chip for adding Wi-Fi internet connection to some old computers. The chip includes a full TCP/IP stack implementation and is accessed through SPI. This needs a serial port in the computer, which is something the Oric lacks. But usin...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Not sure if anything went wrong, but for AIC graphics I could only get decent results drawing things by hand. It is not really a graphic mode, so you need some experimentation to get nice results. I think it would be easier to develop the game (one phase, for instance) in black and white and then, o...

Re: Jasmin time

@Chema : I didn't looked at your last modifications in FloppyBuilder, but from your explanation I suspect where can be the problem. Can you try the attached image with the real Jasmin? It should work with Microdisk too and contains some read tests and a write test after them. Else unfortunately, I ...

Jasmin time

Hi everyone! A friend of mine got his hands on a Jasmin disk interface and has been playing with it. First the bad news. Blake's 7 is not working. It does on the emulator (both Euphoric and Oricutron, that is), but does not pass beyond the 'BOOTING TDOS' (was that it?) message. I have to ask for som...
