Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Having a DOS for Oric makes all the difference in the world. You suddenly find that its actually quite a powerful machine, once you get the tape handicap sorted. +1000 It makes all the difference. Not only for the disk access, which is nice an (above all) fast!, but also for the suddenly available ...

Re: 65c802

Guess it's worth trying :) By all capacitors, do you mean ALL, or just the chemical ones? Let me check his message in the Telegram group... Found it! He said he changed 3 capacitors: the one of the RESET circuit 1uf (he put one of 10 instead, and said the booting is much more stable), one of 100 uf...

Re: Painting in Coloric Ascii Art

I want to take advantage of this message to ask you if you could have a look at this source code which fits in less than 600 lines of C and which is the clean code for the scene in the demo. I would love to have your opinion .. I have taken a look and your code is clean and neat! I am not sure what...

Re: 65c802

Hmm, it looks like the machine is having problems starting up: 9 times out of 10 it just freezes on startup, but when it works it just runs fine (same behavior with normal 65c02, not just with the 65c802). Random comment :) A friend of mine was complaining about his Oric not booting most of the tim...

Re: Sedoric rights

Thanks for your replies... I will send them to my friend. He is quite strict when talking about rights, and did not want to include a sedoric disk image if he was not sure it was ok.

Sedoric rights

A friend of mine is working on an Oric core for the Mist/SIDI. The machine works perfectly and he is now including Microdisc support. He is planning to include sedoric (3 or 4, I am not sure which yet) in the release, so people have everything they need in package. I have no idea how this goes, as I...

Re: The QUILL

Yeah, that was my answer. I even provided the author with one. Now, about how to make records in resl tapes that can reliably load in an Oric... zero experience :)

Re: The QUILL

It is a new game. The authors asked me for help with the Oric port. Nice, I am eager to play this new game :-) Any idea of the release date ? What about the game langage, Spanish ? English ? It'll be only in Spanish, as far as I know. I am just helping with the creation of the tap and wav files, so...

Re: The QUILL

Could it be something as stupid as some off by one error when loading data or computing the checksum? Could be, but as Dom had to patch the files to make them work when loaded from disk, I am starting to think the routine either relies on a memory/register value after loading (which only occurs if ...

Re: The QUILL

I just tried with Krystal Worlds with Erebus and the same symptoms: it loads, pauses for a while, and reboots. So it must be an incompatibility between the Quill checksum routine and Erebus.

In any case, patching the game as Dom suggested did the trick.

Thanks!

Re: The QUILL

When I transferred Krystal Worlds 1, I'm 100% sure it worked on both real Oric and emulator (by audio tape) Did you try with Erebus? There is a high probability that my tap version is wrong somehow, as I converted it from an ort file and had to do some ugly things... I have to check that there are ...

Re: The QUILL

Ah, so there may be a problem with the checksum... interesting. I wonder now about the difference between the emulator and a real Oric.

Thanks!

Re: The QUILL

If the checksum control is not Ok, the reboot of the oric is made by the instruction at the following adress, $13F0 : JMP(FFFC). If you replace this instruction by $13F0 : RTS , It should work.... But that will not explain why it works on emulator and not with the erebus  And even more... why...
