Re: Telestrat failure?

That is indeed bad luck, Symoon. When was the last time you tested them? Maybe they reached the end of their probable lifetime in the last, say, 5 years... That's possible. Last time I tested was around 2009 I think (spare time... :-/ ) Also, 2 or 3 of them might have been faulty before: they were ...

Re: Telestrat failure?

Just for the record, I have tested all my Hyper-Basic cartridges. Six of them: all are dead    . They were sotred in a (dark and dry) cupboard in my room. I tested them on the Telestrat that was checked in detail by NightBird 10 days ago (power, motherboard and so on), and this ...

Re: Printer cable: Oric to DB36?

About DB36 it's clear - it goes to printer, but for IDC26 I have no idea for what kind of computer it's intended to be? By googling a bit, they seem to plug directly on a motherboard? https://www.startech.com/fr/Cables/Serie-parallele-PS-2/DB9-DB25/cable-adaptateur-de-carte-mere-a-faible-en...

Re: Printer cable: Oric to DB36?

I enventually found one, hidden in a box of... Audio cables!

Just tested the Star STX 80 printer and it's impressive in text mode. 1st time I printed on a real Oric :)

Didn't try anything graphic yet. I was about to sell the printer, now I want to keep it

Printer cable: Oric to DB36?

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible ton find anywhere a printer cable, that could plug from Oric's parallel port to a PC old-style printer with the big DB36 port?
I guess not, but who knows ;)

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

Well if there's something that can help me seeing the VIA state and stop the incoming WAV file after each instruction (so I can measure the time after each of them), I'd buy it ;) I am not sure I correctly understand your needs, can you elaborate a bit? To me, it seems that what you want is: - assu...

RIP Ian Sinclair

He was the "I" in "IJK Software" company.
I learnt today of his passing last month.

Thoughts for the Sinclair family.

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

Yesterday, I corrected a bug in the 1.3h version. It became visible at the latest Oric meeting when I tried to convert the TAP of Retroric's game (Electroric). It seemed to load but didn't run. The reason: when the last byte of a memory page was using a specific encoding (1 sinusoid for '1111', whic...

Re: Telestrat failure?

One of my Telestrats and two power supplies were heavily tested by Nightbird yesterday. Verdict: it's the Hyper-Basic ROM that is damaged. That means all the ones I tested were damaged. So, apparently, Telestrat cartridges don't age well . Nightbird tells me they can get erased with time. What I don...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

That's because it's a major debugging tool for me ;) Euphoric already doesn't work anymore, and without Oricutron I'd be blind to understand what happens in case of failure (even with it, it's not so easy  ) Can I strangle you? With all my love? ;) I understand that it is useful when the h...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

So many improvements one after another that I am now officially completely lost as to what the actual progression is. :D Well, I'm currently stuck in a "nothing works" warp: Orics not working, phones not working, computer not working as expected, and similar things at work, so I can't work at all o...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Does anyone here have a PASE or IJK joystick interface? I am implementing both in 8bit-Slicks (and emulating them on the 8bit-Hub), but don't have the "real" hardware to test that it works correctly... I do and could do some quick tests during this very busy weekend. sadly I don't have a disk syste...

Re: You Suffered A Catastrophic Failure, Please Surrender Your Server

Ouf! Thanks for the time spent running this place. I've been away a few days and didn't notice anything! Stupid question but would it be complicated to backup the whole disk(s) running the forum, let's say, once or twice a week? You know, with a sort of Ghost or Macrium thing. Would require some dow...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

One of the ideas might be, instead of a dictionary for a whole program only, to use a part of the dictionary for a sub-disctionary for each page loaded. (...) It has to be checked is if the loading time of those 6 bytes saves actually time with the gain thanks to this dictionary. I simulated the ne...
