Re: cataloguing tapes

Thanks. Yes, it may be from a book, but I'm not sure which one. I think I spotted it in "Games for your Oric" by Peter Shaw. http://www.defence-force.org/computing/oric/library/lib_coding_basic/index.htm That was when I was looking for "M4" game, which is also on the tape listed above. So some (all...

Re: Oric Games Trade

Well, I really must dig out my "Cascade: 50 Games For The Oric" tape then, as that fits the above description :) There were 50 games. It was for Oric. But -- of course -- the screenshots use were inevitably of the Speccy/Commodore/other version of the tape, and most of the games seemed to entirely ...

Re: Manic Miner

Here's Manic Miner loading OK on Euphoric. Not sure the WAV works with Oricutron - and a 44kHz one is probably a bit big for a forum post (8MB zipped).

(84.06 KiB) Downloaded 4 times
PS: didn't manage to make a working TAP file.

Manic Miner

Hi all, So I got an original of Manic Mainer thanks to Dbug... And discovered for the 1st time the amazing loading method! (block by block with error checking). I noticed something strange: the game is by Matthew Smith, the Oric version is by Steven Green, and the inlay states: "Author: Chris Larkin...

Re: STORE and RECALL

OK, next version of TAP2WAV will handle STORE/RECALL; just tested one file successfully. I have a few other modifications to make before a release - don't hold your breath. (teaser: for crazy people, SLOW speed should be generated too now. More seriously, it could be helpful if you want to convert b...

Re: Oric Games Trade

I noticed that French games seem usually rare for people in UK, and UK games (apart from huge hits) seem rare for French people ;)

Re: merging files

There it is, resulting from Googling: /A : ASCII text file (default) /B : Binary file copy - will copy extended characters. include the /B switch, as the following example shows: copy /b *.exe combin.exe This prevents MS-DOS from treating CTRL+Z as an end-of-file character. CTRL Z is the value 26 ($...

Re: merging files

Yes, /B is important with COPY, or you may have problems if certain sequences of bytes are in the files (we found out exactly what was going on there on Oric.org forum I think, but I can't recall and don't have time to search back right now). Here's a transfer without errors detected, of both Oric-1...

I'm preparing the new version which will have the promised faster protocols and check-for-update feature.
Cool!
I was beta-testing Novalight v1.3 but struggled with an unexpected behaviour, when I switched back to tapes transfers.
So you still have time until next version :p

Re: STORE and RECALL

What is the source type of the program being converted to TAP? It's a WAV file Steve sent me, from a real tape. The program is converted OK now, but I just realised (thanks to LadyWasky's PDF description) that the bytes used to indicate the end of a "normal" file, are used with STORE to indicate th...

Re: STORE and RECALL

I think Novalight wouldn't work with STORED files, too.
Luckily it hasn't been used much.

STORE and RECALL

I'm converting into TAP a program that uses STORE and RECALL commands. Well, it appears that very few transfer tools seem to handle it! TAP2WAV, Load Vader and Oric Explorer fail at dealing with them. WAV2TAP is OK (since it doesn't work with the help of files data, but only with the tape signal). I...

Ok then, it sounds like an emulator problem.
I have no problem with Euphoric, but can't start a game with Oricutron.

Re: macadam bumper

Did you first insert coin(s), then pressed the start button as many times as players want to play?
