Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Hey .. why not Cumana Reborn? Much better option than tape. IMHO, you should go for mass storage, not streaming storage, in this Oric day and age. An Oric with disks is a whole level of computing that you may or may not have experienced yet - but once you do, tape just feels unpleasant and counter p...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

I admit, I suggested Pulsoids after the last review, which was painful. Cool to see Oric getting some attention, I'm getting over my issues with hipster Youtube channels, and am gonna embrace them actually - it seems with the rise of retro lately, folks seem to recognise its strengths and include it...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

Ooh, I sometimes get a bit possessive of Oric-1 - watching this video I was really hoping they wouldn't go into too much detail. ;)

Re: OUM disk

Don't thank me, thanks DBug and Chema and the rest of the crew who have kept all this stuff alive for so long - and yeah, I was really intrigued when I got into DOS on Oric, it takes things to a whole different level as a computing platform. I always go back to "what if .. we'd had this hardware bac...

Re: OUM disk

If it ends with .COM, just type the name of the file as a command, or use !, for example: DIR <produces a list of files, one of which is named MENU.COM> !MENU If its a .BAS file or .HRS, you can use LOAD"<filename>" to load it, although if you're going to do this with .HRS files, you should type HIR...

Re: I2C for the Oric

I'm imagining a scrolling terminal with access to an rPi or something, and whenever "cat SOMEORIC.HRS" is done, it includes the TEXT/HIRES attribute switches to allow the picture to be displayed inline on the scroller .. does this description make sense? This way we could have an Oric-specific BBS.

Re: OUM disk

ive been looking at some of the OUM disks I've been doing the same, and noticed quite a few great listings in the mags that I haven't been able to find in the archives. I'm considering doing a "whole day of type-ins" like I used to do when I was a lad... anyone else wanna coordinate on a mag type-i...

Re: I2C for the Oric

I mean, smaller HIRES regions could be used for icons, mixed with TEXT through the 50/60hz attributes, also, no?

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Having a DOS for Oric makes all the difference in the world. You suddenly find that its actually quite a powerful machine, once you get the tape handicap sorted.

Re: I2C for the Oric

I too fantasise about just what sort of BBS is going to be possible once this is working .. imagine streaming HIRES and TEXT continuously from a remote machine ..
