Re: Best Newbie Book for Learning Basic on Oric Atmos?

I find the best thing to do is break into a massive .TAP collection and use Oricutron to print sources, say to a local repo, and read the code from there - some cool BASIC stuff has a bit of assembly, e.g. for scrolling or sounds, and if you spend a bit of time browsing .TAP's, you can get a pretty ...

Re: New Guy here from USA

Welcome TJ! Have you checked https://www.sellmyretro.com/ yet? Also, Oric's accasionally pop up here - keep an eye out! And, there are currently some great new-hardware projects being discussed here too, which you might want to inform yourself about, since they are indeed keeping the Oric alive .. :...

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Doesn't have to be below the Oric - could also be behind it, as in a box which extends the length of the Oric, not the height or width .. anyway, will play with some ideas ..

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

I've been fantasising of modelling an expansion bay style enclosure that can accommodate the Atmos/Oric by just sliding it on to the base, so there'd be a box under the Oric for the PCB's and relevant ports for USB receptacles, etc. I'm kind of fatigued by the cable mess of my Oric setup and would l...

>How did the 6502 designers miss the bug where addresses wrap around incorrectly (due to NOT incrementing the high byte) where things straddle a page boundary (effectively reading 0x5FF and 0x600 really reads 0x5FF and 0x500) ? :) Isn't this a feature - e.g. you might use it with zero-page shadow ma...

Re: Gotek USB floppy emulator

I'm with you Symoon, it is a very confusing market - what I have learned in my retro collection is: get it working with your system and then, DO NOT TOUCH it. ;) So many clones and forks of the firmware and whatnot. Although I've been enjoying the FlashFloppy scene a lot since I put them in my CPC61...

Re: Gotek USB floppy emulator

I have the FlashFloppy drives for m CPC and ZXSpectrum machines and find them very convenient - this may be a stupid suggestion, but Dbug - did you select an image? On my FF's you use the potentiometer to scroll through the list of images on the SD card, then push the button to mount the image - the...

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Nothing is wrong with the case! I just envision an Atmos-styled case, anyway, and thought maybe I could boot up OpenSCAD and try to make one ..
